The Source of doTERRA’s Ravintsara Essential Oil

Ravintsara essential oil is derived from the leaves of the Cinnamomum camphora tree, which is a member of the Lauraceae family.  This species of tree can be easily identified by crushing its leaf, which releases oil and an aroma of camphor.

Though similar in name to Ravensara Essential Oil, they are actually two very different oils with Ravintsara’s scent being milder, and more similar to Eucalyptus and Camphor.

In one of doTERRA’s Co-Impact Sourcing® locations, Ravintsara leaves are harvested by some of the hard working natives of Madagascar to produce doTERRA’s potent Ravintsara essential oil.   It takes about half a kilo of ravintsara leaves to produce one 5ml bottle of Ravintsara Essential Oil.

Ravintsara is ideal as an aromatic refresher due to its refreshing and unique aroma.  Its scent can be described as fresh, earthy, woody, and peppery.  This is due to its eucalyptol and sabinene content.

Its benefits include being able to freshen up a room when diffused, as well as providing a unique, refreshing scent when added to your favourite skin cleanser. It may also be beneficial as part of a relaxing massage.
